GUINEAN'S CHILD MONTH CELEBRAION IN LABE

Wednesday, 24 th June 2009.
Institutions working for the defense of child rights met in Labé on June 1, 2009 to launch the 18 th edition of the month of the Guinean Child under the chairmanship of the First Lady, Jeannette Dadis.

Many people from different walks of life witnessed the Labé launching ceremony because child rights protection is a major preoccupation but these rights are still being violated.

The ceremony started with a long march-past of schoolchildren, students, handicapped children and adults. Kidswave program “The Voice of Alpha & Finda” made a 15 minutes presentation of their theme “Fight against violence in school”. Labé Mayor and the Labé Region’s Governor, during their speeches pleaded for adults to stop all acts of violence against children.

Resident Representatives of UNICEF, Plan Guinea and CCF talked at length about the violation of child rights in schools and promised to do more to promote child rights protection.

Moussa Keita, the permanent secretary of the ruling CNDD, on behalf of the First Lady who was not be present at the ceremony, thanked all development partners in general and Plan Guinea in particular for all the actions undertaken to improve the lives of Guinean children and emphasized the Captain Moussa Dadis Camara’s government’s commitment for the fight against all forms of child rights violation in general and against all acts of violence in schools in particular. The launching was covered by many media houses.
