A workshop was held from 5 to 9 May 2008 in Kissidougou for Plan Staff involved in the implementation of this Campaign.
The workshop was facilitated by an international consultant, Alain Kofi Kumodzi and the regional adviser on Communication and Plea from WARO, Stéfanie Conrad. The workshop was opened by Plan Guinea Country Director with the participation of his Program Support Manager, Mor Gueye.
During the opening speech, the Country Director asked his colleagues to adopt a concrete plan of plea to be achieved by the country office.
The main objectives of the workshop are:
- To explain in detail the concept of plea
- To create a relationship between the vision of plea, the CCCD and the reinforcement
of civic duties
- To understand Plan’s plea policy and some relevant tools in order to have a strategy
for an efficient plea.
- To have an action plan linking focus groups and the necessary objectives to arrive
at an efficient plea.
The first exercise centered on the definition of plea and the analysis of power as a foundation for pleadings.
During the session, participants were able to understand Plan’s vision on plea as a community participative approach and a know-how transfer to the weakest.
The main important themes discussed are:
-Presentation of participative pleadings, background analysis, power play, Plan’s internal analysis in carrying out this campaign, identification of power holders, identification of possible solutions/strategies and of Plan allies in this campaign and the production of campaign messages.
Participants agreed that the main theme of the campaign “learn without fear” will be “corporal punishment in school”
An action plan and a monitoring system were set up. A pilot team will be set up for further follow-up.
The facilitators were happy as Plan staff has acquired new tools and skills for a better participative plea process and advised them to be ready to succeed in the fight just started.
The PSM, on behalf of the CD, thanked the facilitators for a job well done and greeted the team work during the workshop.
He advised that the success of this campaign is a challenge for Plan Guinea and pleaded for the active participation of each and every one.
It will be noted that, before this workshop, a clear action plan for pleas had already been adopted by Plan Guinea. This workshop, a follow-up to that action plan, is held to build staff capacity for a better plea policy.
The Global Campaign “learn without fear” will be launched in October 2008.
